2. Mission

The mission is acted on by learning skills and then using
those skills in real world projects. We are focusing on issues relating to the
here and now – in NM/the southwest. Engaging with local cultures, communities
and geographies. We are trying to connect groups of people at UNM that are
already doing this and creating/catalyzing a new dynamic between these people.
3. Project Description
a.
ASAP is creating a new program for the Fine Arts
department that, when implemented, will train students in arts and social
action, and bring together people and programs at the university who are
already engaged with the arts and social action. This program will include a
core class that all undergraduates can take to bring social practice and
creativity to their field, a certificate program...
4. Evaluation

that exist that we can contact to determine how they evaluated their programs
for excellence?

ReplyDeletec. "place-based" seems like an awkward term to me. Could it be "Southwest-specific" or "site-specific" or "locally focused" or something more readily recogniziable as a descriptor?

Comments on Mission: "is acted on by" would be stronger if it read "is enacted by"
--Again, the focus is the Southwest, not just NM.
I think the focus needs to go beyond what we "are already doing" and add: "and inspiring new practitioners to join the field"
Comments on Program Description: Again, I think we need to go beyond those who "are already engaged with the arts and social action" to educate students from all other fields and help to recruit new ASAP students to build this field.
