Research Mission: The practice of research has long been confined to the science and mathematic fields. However, at the University of New Mexico the Arts Leadership Program sees research as a vital part of any field, including the arts. Not just understanding art’s history and innate part of humanity but its potential and fundamental role in society is the principle of the research done by the artists of the ALP. By collaboration with field specialists, the developments of an artistic method (research, interviews, experimentation, documentation), and the direction of our fellows ALP creates an environment for artistic exploration.

The courses of the Arts Learning Laboratory will be sites of research and articulation of critical Arts Leadership practices. The Arts Leadership Program will establish dedicated positions for both a researcher and evaluator. By collaboration with field specialists, the developments of an artistic method (research, interviews, experimentation, documentation), and the direction of our fellows ALP creates an environment for artistic exploration.
